Spanish Wells is a tight-knit fishing community at Eleuthera’s northern tip, and the gateway to the Devil’s Backbone, a reef system that has wrecked ships for centuries and now makes for some of the better wreck and reef diving in the Bahamas. The town itself is worth a look too, neat, colourful, and still very much a working fishing port.
Don’t miss taking on a local pilot for the Backbone passage itself, it’s technical enough that most charters don’t attempt it alone.

Part of Eleuthera, see the full destination guide for getting there and pairing this with the rest of the island.
