Two honest notes for the Bahamas specifically. The fleet here is heavily weighted toward crewed motor yachts, so bareboat selection is thinner than in, say, the BVI. And the banks are genuinely shallow: navigating the cuts and sandbars is reading-the-water sailing, best suited to skippers with real experience.

If you are weighing the two, start with the difference between crewed and captain-only. Many groups who ask about bareboat end up happiest with a captain aboard and the rest of the trip to themselves.
